MARSEILLE.
Marseille took the lead two times.
PSG came back to two times.
Stade Vélodrome then demanded the win but an own goal created by Ibra gave PSG three heavy points and the continuous Ligue 1-lead.
– Three very important points, Zlatan said efter the game.
In front of over 60000 crazy Marseille-fans (and some PSG-ones) this expected game was gonna have a big impact on Ligue 1, no matter how it went. Zlatan started together with Cavani and Pastore up front in PSG's almost complete Starting XI.
GIGNAC-POWER - QUICK REPLY BY PSG
Both of the teams needed the first goal in a surprisingly open first half. Marseille got it. In the 30th minute Payet found Gignac with a cross and the stiker clearly won the header duel against Marquinhos. 1-0 and the crowd was going mad. But only a few minutes later, Matuidi beautifully equalized. An excellent right (!) shot which Mandanda in Lyon's goal touched but the ball went into the top corner. 1-1.
GIGNAC ON FIRE
When everybody was waiting for it to be 1-1 at halftime Pastore (and somewhat Verratti) made a weak mistake that lead to Gignac scoring again. The (brilliant) italian passed a coming down Pastore on his feet, but the ball was kicked off his feet and all of a sudden Gignac was open with Sirigu. The French striker made no mistake, 2-1 to Marseille at halftime.
PSG CAME OUT STRONG AND POWERFUL
A goal just before halftime is often considered very important so surely 2-1 in the 43rd minute at home at Stade Vélodrome changed things. Well no. PSG apparantly had a great talk at halftime because 6 minutes in to the second they had turned this around. First, in the 49th minute Zlatan took a freekick and slipped, but the ball found Marquinhos in the penalty area, the Brazilian struck it nicely, it was 2-2.
ZLATAN ALMOST GAMEWINNER
And only two minutes later, it was time again. This time Pastore took revenge for the mistake on the 2-1-goal. He got the ball on the left from Matuidi on the counter-attack and looked for Zlatan in the box. The ball went towards Ibra, who was fighting Morel and at first it looked like Zlatan scored the goal, but on the replay it showed that Morel had scored an own goal. 2-3, PSG had turned it around!
WEIRD LYON-DEFENSE CREATED STRANGE GAME
Lyon's manager Marcelo Bielsa is known for his unorthodox methods and he has impressed many with what he has done with Marseille this season. But tonight the defensive tactics against PSG just did not work. Their 3-3-3-1 became a kind of man-man-marking in defense and PSG handled it well, sometimes it looked very easy and enormously open. To be fair, PSG could and should have won with more than one goal, they had alot of chances. But a win is a win, and PSG went back to Paris with 3 heavy points and the Ligue-lead. 2-3, final result.
This wasn't Zlatan's best game. He lost alot of physical duels against the Marseille-defenders, he slipped several times and his accuracy wasn't as good as we are used to. But the overall impression is very much dependant on just that, what we are used to. Because he was involved in both 2-2 and 2-3, he created several chances by himself, especially in the second and PSG won the game with him playing 90 minutes. Plus Mandanda made two great saves on two almost identical Ibra-shots in the 83rd and 84th minute. So based on a very high Ibra-meter, it was somewhat a disappointment but PSG won so there's really no need to overvalue the performance.
