Discussions have existed whether or not Zlatan and Cavani work together enough as strikers. Tonight they showed amazing teamwork and served each other one goal each when PSG completely dominated Saint-Étienne 4-1.
– It has always worked well (with Cavani), Zlatan said after the game.
PSG started like they use to at Parc des Princes. A lot of possession and control. No huge chances until the 23rd minute when they displayed a brilliant attack. Cavani to Verratti to Kurzawa on the left and his left shot went underneath goalkeeper Ruffier. 1-0, Kurzawa. PSG had a few more chances but it was 1-0 at halftime.
PSG CAME OUT STRONG AFTER THE BREAK
Blanc must have inspired PSG in the break because they came out firing. And scored immediately. Marquinhos long clearance from their own penalty area reached Zlatan up front and Ibra drove the ball on the right and instead of shooting found Cavani in the box. He shot directly with his left, 2-0! Assist: Ibrahimović. An almost identical situation appeared a minute later, but this time Cavani fumbled the attempt.
ZLATAN-GOAL
In the 67st minute Cavani paid Zlatan back after a wonderful attack by PSG. Motta to Di Maria to Cavani to Zlatan. An absolute world class-goal which Zlatan finished off in an open net. 3-0. In the 73rd minute PSG was very unlucky. A Thiago Silva-clearance hit Veratti's leg, relatively far out - the ball went against Trapp's goal and surprised him. 3-1, Verratti own goal.
LUCAS FINISHED THE SCORING
Blanc made some substitutions, Zlatan and Cavani was taken off and in the 87th minute subbed Lucas thanked his manager with a goal. A mistake by Ruffier gave 4-1, which became the end result. Impressive performance by PSG who seem to bring home Ligue 1 quite easily this season.
Got his first opportunity in the 12th minute. Di Maria gave him a great pass and Zlatan shot low with his right, but goalkeeper Ruffier made a nice save with his right foot. He later shot a freekick on goal, but not too dangerous. Almost got an assist in the 41st minute when ge was open with only Ruffier to beat, but passed to Cavani. Ruffier made a great save.
Ibra started the second brilliantly and assisted Cavani to 2-0 in the 48th minute. After driving the ball on the right side, he gave El Matador a great pass in the box. Zlatan's 3rd assist in Ligue 1 this season.
