Zlatan started on the bench and didn't have to move when PSG beat Lyon 2-1 in the League Cup quarterfinal tonight. This is how it happened.
WEIRD FIRST GOAL BY PSG
Laurent Blanc rested several players including Zlatan and Lyon was allowed more possession in the first half. But PSG took the lead in the 17th minute after some crazy coincidences in front of Lyon's goal. Lavezzi was close to scoring but the ball bounced what felt like 100 times on both Gorgelin in goal as well as Lyon-legs before Adrien Rabiot finally placed the ball in goal. 1-0 to PSG.
EQUALIZER JUST BEFORE HALFTIME
In the 43rd minute Lyon made it 1-1. After a corner the ball came back to Tolisso inside the penalty area but quite far out to the right. That didn't stop Tolisso who halfvolleyed it with his right foot, got a perfect hit and the ball went over Sirigu's head with pace. 1-1, which was the halftime result.
SUBERSUBS WON THE GAME
In the 65th minute Laurent Blanc brought in Lucas and Di Maria on the field. Seven minutes later they made an impact. After a Lyon-corner Di Maria got the ball, beautifully lobbed the ball over a Lyon-player and then ran all the way to Lyon's penalty area and passed to Lucas who placed the ball underneath Gorgelin. 2-1 to PSG, which became the final result.
PSG through to the Coupe de la Ligue semifinal.
